Research Direction
Prof. Kaihui Liu specializes in the research of light-element materials preparation and ultrafast optical technology. He excels in developing advanced equipment to achieve scientific breakthroughs and technological innovations. He made original contributions in the fields of metallic single crystal atom manufacturing technology, the new paradigm of "lattice mass transfer-interface growth" material preparation, and the theory of phase matching of angled optical crystals.
Group Personnel
The group leader, Professor Kaihui Liu, primarily engages in the research of light-element materials preparation and ultrafast optical technology. In recent years, he has published numerous papers as the corresponding author, including 3 papers in Science, 3 in Nature, and 20 in Nature sub-journals, 2 in PRL, and has edited 1 monograph. He has applied for over 60 invention patents. He has served as the Chief Scientist of key national projects, Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program on Matter State Regulation, Deputy Editor of Science Bulletin, and Editorial Board Member of Nanotechnology and J. Phys. D. His achievements have been selected as significant technological advances in China for 2020, top 10 semiconductor research advances in China for 2020, and major achievements at the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum.
The group currently has more than 60 members, with more than 80% being graduate students, masters, or doctors, forming a vibrant R&D group with strong technological innovation and industrial transformation capabilities.
Group Overview
The Light-Element Advanced Materials and Devices Group, as one of the pioneering innovation groups at the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, focuses on major national strategic needs and core industrialization technologies. The group concentrates on industrial research in the fields of light element thin film materials and high-end copper materials.
Currently, the group has established 3 joint engineering centers (2 Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory-Zhongke Jingyi Joint Engineering Centers and 1 Yangshengtang-Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory Joint Engineering Center) and has founded 2 industrial companies (Zhongke Jingyi and Zhongke Tianlu).
1. Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory-Zhongke Jingyi Joint Engineering Center
The Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory-Zhongke Jingyi Joint Engineering Center was jointly established by the Light-Element Advanced Materials and Devices Group at Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory and Zhongke Jingyi (Dongguan) Materials Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Zhongke Jingyi") in July 2021 and July 2023. The center focuses on the R&D, production, and sales of high-end copper materials (high-purity copper series products, single crystal copper series products and copper-based composite material series products, etc.), achieving the industrialization of high-end copper materials from R&D to pilot testing.
2. Yangshengtang-Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory Joint Engineering Center
The Yangshengtang-Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory Joint Engineering Center (ELEM) was established in October 2021. It is a scientific research platform jointly built by Yangshengtang Co., Ltd. and Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory. The center, relying on the Light-Element Advanced Materials and Devices Group, covers an area of approximately 1,700 square meters and integrates "materials-devices-applications" research functions, systematically laying out application research in the field of high-end acoustic devices and conducting frontier technology research in the fields of intelligent human body monitoring and medical health. Once completed, the center will become a leading R&D base and transformation center for light element materials in the leisure, medical, and intelligent application fields, promoting the cultivation of scientific research talents and the reserve of scientific and technological capabilities, and accelerating the industrialization of scientific research achievements.

3. Zhongke Jingyi (Dongguan) Material Technology Co., Ltd
Zhongke Jingyi (Dongguan) Materials Technology Co., Ltd. was established in May 2020 and is an industrial company incubated by the Light-Element Advanced Materials and Devices Group of the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory. The company specializes in the R&D and production of high-end copper materials, dedicated to providing comprehensive solutions for high-end copper material preparation and establishing a benchmark for high-end copper materials in China. In 2022, the company received certification as a high-tech enterprise.
Currently, the company has 3 bases in Dongguan: a copper material production base in Tangxia, a target material production base in Dalang, and an R&D base in Songshan Lake, as well as an equipment manufacturing base in Jinzhou, Liaoning. The company has successfully secured financing.
Zhongke Jingyi focuses on high-quality copper material preparation technology, driven by market demand and product orientation, gradually forming 4 series of products: high-purity single-crystal copper wire, single-crystal copper targets, single-crystal copper raw materials, and high-end intelligent metallurgical equipment. It provides high-end copper products for fields such as energy, electronics, communication, superconducting, and aerospace. Related achievements have successively received awards such as China Major Technological Progress, Top Ten Research Advances in the Chinese Semiconductor Industry, and provincial and ministerial-level Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. The company aims to form an industrial cluster for high-end copper material preparation technology and equipment, solving the long-term reliance on imported high-end copper materials and establishing a domestically leading and internationally first-class high-end copper material technology innovation platform.
4. Zhongke Tianlu (Dongguan) Materials Technology Co., Ltd.
Zhongke Tianlu (Dongguan) Materials Technology Co., Ltd. is a company started by the Light-Element Advanced Materials and Devices Group of the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory. The company was established in June 2023 and is headquartered in Songshan Lake, Dongguan. It is a high-level R&D company focusing on new materials, providing professional solutions, materials and equipment for clean rooms, research equipment, transportation tools, and other scenarios. It has built a 1600 m2 R&D center in Dalang, Dongguan, and is committed to developing the next generation of filtration materials and equipment. It aims to bring high-value contributions to high-tech research and development, energy saving, emission reduction, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement.
